Instead of the latter you could do a:

   apt-get install task-gnome-apps task-gnome-net

or, for a slicker GNOME, after putting the line:

   deb http://spidermonkey.helixcode.com/distributions/debian unstable main

in your /etc/sources.list, say:

   apt-get install task-helix-gnome
