Good way to keep kde2 up to date?

I recently installed kde2, from the debs found with apt-get. I would like to keep up to date with the development snapshots as they come out, as many bugs get fixed in each one.

I am curious if any other debian users have a method they use to do this that avoids totally screwing up dpkg, etc? Do you you CVS, or what exactly? Or do you just wait for the debs to slowly trickle down? I would be most interested in what others are doing to keep
"on the cutting edge" of things, as far as KDE2 goes.
