pbm2ppa converts the ghostscript output into something my
HP 720 can understand (ppa?). The above script is verbatum
from the pbm2ppa documentation. I have tested the above
script and pbm2ppa program and can directly send a postscript
file to the printer, I just can spool it with lprng.

I tried this and the file /tmp/printer.log wasn't created, suggesting to
me that lprng didn't even to as far as trying to filter the file?

lp-errs is empty.
