I'm no expert and can't answer with 100% confidence, but I'm pretty sure the XT
controller is only for older controllers (like 8086/8088 style PCs). I also don't
believe you need the paride driver. I've never needed either of these on any of the
machines I've installed Debian on (10 or 15 boxes, ranging from old 386SX's to
PIII's).
