I saw something similar, it may indeed be the java support that is the
cause. I sat with top running in one window and NS, looking at
netbuyer.com, running in another window. I didn't do anything, yet the size
of the netscape process in top's display continuously grew in memory size.
It went from 20033 to 22000 in about 6-7 mins. It never went down. The
same thing didn't happen sitting on a non-java page.
