Re: 3C509 acting strangely on Win95/Debian dual boot system
I remember having similar problems . When I got my Infomagic 6 CD set, and
wrote
the install (rescue) diskette, LINUX wouldn't even boot. It will hang at the
spot where
it is looking for SCSI device. Well after several attempts at this I
abandoned the idea
of LINUX.
Then after several weeks, I tried again and it came up and let me install
LINUX.
But it froze again when I tried to boot from hard disk and even the rescue
disk like old.
I forget the sequence of things. pwr down, boot win95, boot DOS. Soon I had
Linux
again. So I proceeded to recompile. Took references of any stuff I dont use
out of the
config. Added append "ether=11,0x340" to LILO.CONF ......yours may vary!!
I dont have that problem anymore.
Wait!! I do when I pop in the RESCUE diskette.
So I suggest rebuilding your favorite kernel.

Hey don't blame Wintel. Where would we be if they didn't give usthe
opportunity to get our hands on PCs ? <grin>
