XMCD

i'm running a full hamm system. i just installed xmcd via dselect and
configured it to query the cddb's to get the names of the cd and the
songs. after playing the cd for about fifteen seconds, the cpu load,
memory and eventually swap graphs on my xsysinfo go all the way up and the
system becomes very sluggish. eventually, when all of the swap is used
up, xmcd dies, but the system is still a bit sluggish.

i had xmcd before when i was running bo and it worked fine (i was using
the statically linked version, whereas i now have it dynamically linked to
lesstif). i re-ran xmcdconfig and said no to the cddb's and now it works
fine.

anyone have any ideas why this might happen? the cddb's are one of the
neatest features of xmcd.

thanks,
matty
