Your best bet is to
a) install the current Debian X packages
b) put the packages containing the bits that you want to replace on
'hold' using dselect
c) replace the appropriate files in /usr/X11R6, making sure that you
don't create any files that aren't there already
d) when I release X packages with the appropriate versions of servers
that you are looking for, take the packages off hold in dselect and
install the new packages as usual.
I still think that, even if they have altered Xlib and so on, all you
really _need_ is the new servers, which only depend on libc. Unless, of
course, you want to use the new features of Xlib.
