Installation problems

Hi, Debian folk

We have down loaded base disks, root and boot disks from
ftp.debian.org on October 6. We uncompressed the disk images
and used dd to put them on 1.44 floppies.

We booted satisfactorily, and saw the hard drives. We believe the
hard drives are OK, as we successfully installed DOS, for what
little that says.

While inside the install program, while formatting the HD we got
a scheduler error and the kernel bombed. The machine hung.

HELP!!!

Notes:

To support my hardware, I created a kernel with support for an
1542 SCSI, for WD8013, ne2000, but no VL or PCI bus support.
(There are no VL bus cards.) The machine is a VL bus dx2-66
machine with an older 1542A controller, a couple of gigs of hard
drive, and a Diamond Speedstar video card. There is a tape
controller but no support compiled in. The tape drive is not being
used.

Please send your answer(s) via email to teague@wcu.edu. I will
summarize.

Thanks.
