Weiss ich nicht. Ich habe die Info von  
http://dri.sourceforge.net/doc/DRIbeginner.html uebernommen:

STEP 2: Next you have to configure the Device section to load the  
correct driver for your graphics card.

Again, open the config file with your favorite text editor and locate  
the Device section:

Section "Device"

Inside the Device section there will be a Driver line listing the  
driver to use for the graphics device:

Driver "XXX"

Depending on your graphics card you have to enter a different driver:

Card Manufacturer 	Driver Name
ATI 	ati
Matrox 	mga
3dfx 	tdfx
Intel 	i810

Ich denke mal, die Leute dort kennen sich in der Materie besser aus als  
ich und werden schon ihren Grund gehabt haben, das zu schreiben. :-)
