ok - ich versuche das mal als Linux Newbie mal genauer zu beschreiben.
Das System das ich hier vor mich habe ist mit gänzlich unbekannt. Ich
weis nur das es ein Motorola PowerPC 604e, Powertack ist. SCSI onBoard,
ein Floppylaufwerk, OpenFirmaware 1.2. Da ich bis jetzt nur an IntelPC's
rumgeschraubt hatte, ist das eine ganz neue Welt. Eine OldWorld
sozusagen.
Nach vielem suchen im Internet hab ich erfahren das Debian, MKLinux
eventuell für dieses System in frage kommt wenn man darauf Linux als OS
installieren möchte.
Ich hab mal mit Debian angefangen. Vom FTP Server hab ich dann die
Dateien rescue.bin, boot.bin root.bin und driever-1.bin runtergeladen,
mit rawrite dann auf Disketten geschrieben.
Nach dem Starten des Systems meldet sich dann auch gleich das
OpenFirmware und stellt ein Menü bereit. Bilder von der Kiste bzw mehr

Ich lege also die Diskette ein auf dem Recue.bin ist und Klicke in dem
Menü auf "Boot Operating System". Das Laufwerk macht geräusche als ob es
was lesen würde aber das System bricht ab und sagt mir das es mit der
eingelegten Diskette nichts anfangen kann "floppy Can't open disk label
package". Zum Testen hab ich mal die Boot.bin Diskette eingelegt um von
ihr zu starten. Und siehe da, es tut sich was. Es erscheint auf dem
Monitor die Meldung das daß System nun von Floppy Bootet nachdem ich wie
bei Rescue im Menu auf "Boot Operating System" geklickt habe. Es kommen
Meldungen wie ich sie von meinem SuSE PC her kenne wenn er Bootet und den
Kernel läd. Bricht dann aber ab, oder bleibt hängen.

und ab da bleibt das System stehen.
Hab ich da einen Denkfehler oder gibt es für mein PC kein Linux?
Ich weis nur das vorher ein art Unix drauf war. Motorola Antwortet auch
auf keine Mails die ich ihnen geschickt habe. Also stehe ich hier voll im
dunkel und hoffe das einer von euch hier einen Ausweg weis.
