Ja wie man eine FIFO anlegt weiss ich nicht, aber vielleicht liegt
es daran das er im falschen Verzeichnis nach der FIFO sucht.
Gibt es /var/spool/fax/dev/ ?

Ja schau mal nach. Vielleicht sucht er an der falschen Stelle.
gibt es nicht irgendwo einen Hinweis wo man die Pfade eingeben
kann?
Hast du .configure ausgefuehrt bevor du .install gemacht hast?

Doch hylafax loggt auch, allerdings musst du Loglevel (wieviel
Logs) einstellen
und den Pfad (wo, z.B. /tmp/fax.log)
