In that case the phrase 'Macro package for TeX (the most popular)' is a
bit missleading. :-) BTW, is it the fonts only (pfb, afm), or are these
the tfm/vf, too?

The same goes for charter. Both belong to the fonts required by PSNFSS,
so they ought to be in texlive-fontsrecomended IMO, together with the
other PSNFSS fonts. In addition, since texlive-latex installs PSNFSS, it
should at least Suggest/Recommend texlive-fontsrecomended. In addition,
mathpazo.sty is the recommended way of using the FPL fonts, and that is
in texlive-mathextra, although it is also part of PSNFSS. Grrr....
[Actually one could argue that charter/fpl/pazo are more important than
the LW35 fonts, since the latter are not needed for dvips.]

But that would uninstall texlive-fontsrecomended, no? BTW, looking at
http://tug.org/texlive/Debian/pool/Packages.gz I see in texlive-fontsextra
garamond -- URW Garamond No8 Postscript Type 1 fonts.
I guess the non-free fonts are not actually part of this package.
However, this means that my garamond-no8 package should not work
together with texlive-fontsextra. :-(
