Bug#270407: tetex-base: inter-device move failed: `latex.fmt' to `/var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt'

It cannot find it. On my system, it does:

$ kpsewhich latex.efmt
/var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.efmt

If it is different on your system (presumably you'll get no output),
please run

kpsewhich --debug=126 latex.efmt 2> kpsewhich.log

and send us the logfile

> fmtutil: /var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt installed.

Yes, that might be a problem. Hm. What I'd like to know in any case is

ls -l /usr/bin/*tex

Hilmar, could it be a problem that the (pdf)initex point to (pdf)tex?
