Bug#131554: confirming bug 131554

> lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           17 Feb  5 21:15 /usr/share/texmf/pdftex/config -> /etc/texmf/pdftex

lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           17 Mar 10 13:38
/usr/share/texmf/pdftex/config -> /etc/texmf/pdftex

tracing on down, ls -ld /etc/texmf/pdftex yields:
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root         4096 Mar 10 13:38
/etc/texmf/pdftex

and ls -l /etc/texmf/pdftex yields:
total 0

So there were no files in that directory.

I'll be glad to try any sequence you suggest to reload the
packages. Just let me know the key file I'm looking for
in the /etc/texmf/pdftex directory so I can flag when it
appears. (assuming it is supposed to be a directory ..?)

> By the way, why tetex-bin was "rc"?

I had "apt-get remove tetex-bin" so apt-get wouldn't complain every
time I ran it.
