GRUB (or LILO) does not use the kernel to load stuff, so it is unaffected
by the ATA/libata change.
Are your RAID partitions of type 'autodetect' ? (fdisk -l)
Are the (lib)ata drivers in the initramdisk ? (are the disks detected by kernel?)
