I understand this. I am also the kind of person
that does an introductory course using woddy.
(and have Woddy on most of my servers).

It is more fun for me and the students,

When students update 2 day old installs 
they can see the updated packages.
Upgrading the system makes them feel real cool.

There is a problem now - so I will not use
woody next week unless it is resolved.
But I hope it will.

P.s.
I have used Debian for about 5 years and have mostly
used the unstable (now testing) versinons on servers.

That could change with the freeze of Woddy.
To me Woddy looks like a good base to work from and has
lots of good stuff. I would hope to see some kind of
split in the developement i.e. fixing, adding to Woddy and
a clean "no obligations" fresh start (Debian oldstyle).
