Re: OpenExpo Bern, April 1st and 2nd, 2009

Hi Adrian

Anybody who is there could please discuss with Matthias Stürmer (or anybody else of the orga team; and make this an official request of me as the debian.ch secretary) why the question of official presence for Debian never makes it to this list.

Let me answer this: debian.ch was and is more than welcome to do a booth at OpenExpo for free! However, there are two issues:

1. At the OpenExpo's last year in Bern [1] and Winterthur [2] you had twice a booth at the event. I don't remember the event in Bern, but at least last time in Winterthur nobody showed up during two days. This is really annoying for us exhibition organizers having to turn down projects beforehand because project tables are scarce and then having others not attending their booth!

2. For the upcoming OpenExpo over 40 communities were able to sign up for a booth [3]. It's not that difficult...

So if there is a debian.ch member who is really able to attend the two OpenExpo days (yes, Axel, it's on weekdays because topsoft takes place during these days. Feel free to organize OpenExpo on Saturday/Sunday, but good luck finding sponsors...), I've reactivated the subscription form on http://www.openexpo.ch/index.php?id=231 the next couple of days. But please only subscribe for a booth if you really can manage to have at least one person present all the time - all the other communities can do it as well!

Best,

Matthias
