Jurij:
Do you think we should make an effort to support sparc32 using 2.6 for
d-i? You said yourself that things were looking better and these reports
seem to confirm it.
This will be after the Beta2 release of the installer though.

Request to all sparc32 owners out there: please try running your system
with latest 2.6.15 kernel from unstable and report any issues.
Make sure you read up on the possible issues in a 2.4 to 2.6 migration
documented in the Sarge release notes [1] and take the usual precautions
before you do so.

Not documented in the release notes are possible issues with the new
initramfs initrd generators: initramfs-tools and yaird. These replace
initrd-tools.
initramfs-tools is currently known to be broken for sparc (#347902), but
yaird should work OK. Due to missing sysfs support in sbus device drivers
you may experience problems booting systems that need an sbus device to
boot. In that case, you may have to specify that the required module
should be included in the initrd in the configuration files of the initrd
generator, or compile a custom kernel that has the drivers required to
boot the system compiled into the kernel.

Cheers,
FJP
