Ethernet cards, Gfx programming

Hi again,

The Sparc5 is coming today - finally. It took longer than expected :(
Thanks for the pinout, i fetched the complete FAQ's yesterday and read
them ... and nice to know that there aren't that many differences
between
the different Debian dists...

So there's time to ask another question:

I realised that i need a fast network connection between the PC and the
Sparc. They must be connected at least with one 100Mbit Ethernet card.
Much better would be 2 x 100Mbit Ethernet per machine (that would be
approximately 25MB/s - in theory, right?). Maybe two more machines will
be integrated as well (then i will think about hubs and/or switches,
etc.)
I'm trying to establish a system (as small as possible) which is highly
redundant, is capable of handling/routing/processing incoming
data-streams
and may have one or more heads (terminals). Beowulf uses more Ethernet
cards per node - with more throughput, but (maybe again related to the
app
itself) they don't reach 20MB/s (as far as i remember).

Is it possible to use two 100Mbit Ethernet cards in a Sparc5?
(what's the throughput? caveats?)

How much do i have to pay for one (respective two) cards?

Are there 3rd-party companies selling cheap(er) 100Mbit cards for
Sparc5?
(in Europe, preferably)

Apart from this i'd like to use the onboard 10Mbit controller, too.
(making it finally three Ethernet connections and one TCX/SS24 - is this
too much?)

And i need the Sparc to display parts of the datastream (a live camera
stream, for example). This stream is an uncompressed, raw pixelstream
displayed with my own routines. Then a few diagnostics/infos/etc. need
to be displayed. Last maybe a little bit serving (minimal) and a few
other
processes and calculations, related to the incoming data.

So, am i asking too much from one Sparc? (Most workload will be bound to
the SMP-RAID-PC, anyway. The Sparc should be the first head of the
entire
system. A second would follow, if above is possible)

ok, bye for now,

	Mac

P.S.: I assume that i don't need to take advantage of the gfx
capabilities
with special programming efforts. But if there are things i should be
aware of when trying to build the mentioned stream processing - please
let
me know ;)
