Stable in Debian means that packages do not get updated with new
features/releases, but instead get just bugs fixed.

Even OpenSSH is released as "stable" 3.5p1, from a debian stable point of
view openssh 3.4p1 is stable and with no known bugs.

OTOH 3.5 add few new features, but could probably be compiled on debian woody
without any major problems.
