I started some discussions on this topic, and while it's a possible
solution, patching all the bindtextdomain() calls is often cumbersome
-- at least in vte there were a bunch, but I didn't check eel2 -- and
will be forgotten for new upstream releases. So even if it's feasible
technically for one version and is technically elegant, I think there's
a high risk of introducing silent breakage with this solution. Plus,
 it's generally more work.
