It messes up all 24-bit deep images causing either garbage to be shown
(data loss) and/or crashes the app using it.  Grave for some I suppose,
but does not make it unusable.

I've re-pinged the libgpewidget maintainer who agreed to remove the
dependency (#309933) but hasn't uploaded it yet.  I can only wait.
