Re: Please use "Depends: lme4 (>= 1.1-10), Imports: Matrix (>= 1.2-3)" in pbkrtest since those packages have dashes in version string

Hi Søren,

I would like to apologise for my fellow Debian maintainer. As you may know, I
am the maintainer of your pbkrtest package which we have in Debian because
car depends on it.

I told my fellow, and too often over-eager, Debian maintainer that I (as a R
user and CRAN author) consider the R semantics fine -- R does what it does,
and here it does not differentiate between '-' and '.'. No R bug as this is
documented, no need for a change.

Debian is overzealous in the autotests (which I consider less than ideally
designed, but that is a Debian-internal discussion) as well as bossy in this
outreach. It is a missing feature ("bug") in our tooling which should be
fixed on our side.

In any event, my packaging of your pbkrtest package is already taken care of
via this patch which will get auto-applied:

https://salsa.debian.org/edd/r-cran-pbkrtest/blob/master/debian/patches/hyphenated_version

So again, sorry for this mail. I had preemptively tried to not have him send
this, firstly because I disagree on the matter and secondly because he simply
should not meddle on my relationship with my package upstream -- you. This
is rather disappointing behaviour going against the very team spirit we
usually have. At least on better days.

And I also apologise for him addressing you as 'Michael'. Sigh.

Will I get to see you in Brisbane for useR? We got to continue the "evening
entertainment" tradition from Brussels :)

Cheers, Dirk
