Powerfail-safe kernel pkg installation
Hi!
During the upgrade to new kernel package it happened that I noted the
following:
1. package kernel-new was downloaded
2. kernel-old was removed
3. kernel-new was unpacked
4. kernel-new was setup
In case of power shortage between points 2 and 4 system would have been
left in unusable, unboot-able state.
What was thought to be done in this case?
IMHO shouldn't system reliability be founded on more solid procedure than
relying on power grid in critical moment, and is there a possibility there
ought to be a powerfail-safe procedure to upgrade to new kernel?
All the time having in mind Murphy's law that everything that can go wrong
inevitably will go wrong.
