branching is cheap is sensible for _local_ work.

For collaboration it is messy to publish uncoordinated branches.

I reverted the git at collab-maint.

Please keep that patch queue branch local (i.e. do not push it) until we 
agree it makes sense to have at the shared git.

Not sure what you mean, but if you mean add a new changelog section to 
add more changes to, then added that now.

But please commit manual changes separately from (semi-)automated ones: 
Use "git dch -a" to generate draft changelog commit.

That eases later reverting of a change or cherry-picking across 
branches.
