Debian Lenny & 'macserial' driver

Some careful examination of the debian lists reveals that the command 'insmod 
macserial' will allow the machine to identify and configure the internal modem 
on a G4 Mac desktop.  However, this command seems to have been dropped ... 
maybe incorporated into another command for the newer 2.6.xx kernels.

Has anybody got some more info on this subject??
