What is necessary for compiled a kernel 2.6 for BootX ?

I didn't know of anything special. I have sucessfully used BootX to
boot quite a few kernels on my old Performa 5400 with only 24 MB RAM.
Are you sure it's not your kernel the problem?

Hi,

In fact, G3 booted well under kernel 2.6.14, but the screen remained black and I could more ping it.

The difference between a kernel 2.2.20 of the Woody installer and a compiled kernel 2.6.14:

- For kernel 2.2.20 the option "No video driver" of BootX is enabled, with kernel 2.6.14 it should be disabled and the screen is visible.

- I have to add a PCI Ethernet card in G3, and the enumeration of the Ethernet card to be changed between kernel 2.2 and the 2.6, the interface eth0 became eth1.

Conclusion G3 functions with a kernel 2.6 and boot with BootX. :o)

My last problem, is that I have in the console three vertical lines of some pixels broad which scrambles the screen.

Regards.
