Yes it is.
There is an optional accessory which is an adaptor to charge the ipod
from a mains outlet.
I was told in an Apple Store, that charging it through a usb port is
safer (from the ipod's battery life viewpoint). Seems logical to me,
fast-chargers usually cause more stress to batteries.
