Actually, looking at http://tinyurl.com/7sc6d it seems those sleep changes went into the 2.6.12-rc3 tree, so maybe try -rc2 and then -rc3 and see if things work. Those changes fixed very similar sleep problems I was having with my G3 iBook. If -rc3 works for you, then start moving forward to see where it breaks again. If -rc3 doesn't work it might be time to ask benh... -i
