Re: oops on resume from suspend to disk

Sorry about the missing info---I've been a bit scatter brained
recently. :( The machine in question is a new (about month old) 12"
PowerBook with SuperDrive. I guess that makes it a powerbook6,8? I'm
using a pristine copy of 2.6.12-rc6. I've added the appletouch module
from http://popies.net/atp/, as well as the cdfs, fuse, and shfs
modules from debian sources (which probably are irrelevant for this
discussion). (I've also tried a pristine 2.6.12 kerenl with Suspend2
patches, but suspend2 gives me some error message about compression
and refuses to sleep. I figured that was an issue for the suspend2
mailing list but I would welcome suggestions on that front as well).

At first, my procedure from hibernate was a self written script of the
form
/etc/init.d/hotplug stop
rmmod usb, firewire, and alsa modules
echo disk > /sys/power/state.

After reading the man page for hibernate.conf, I discovered I could
get it to use normal suspend instead of suspend2. This provided
more helpful messages during shutdown, but as near as I could tell the
basic problem (USB oops on resume) remained uchanged.

I can supply other logs or info upon request.

Thanks,

In 1997 a group of programmers started writing a desktop environment
to fix a travesty they didn't create. Their program promptly found
its way onto un*x systems everywhere. Today, still opposed by a
software monopolist, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you share
their vision, if you know you can help, and if you can connect to
internet, maybe you can join... the K-Team.
