Re: XFS enabled Debian 3.0r2 powerpc installer
Hi Ethan,
I have been trying to make my 2.6.2-rc1-ben1 kernel boot with my XFS /
partition, but with no luck.
I keep getting the same error:
VFS: Cannot open root devide "hda4" or hda4
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on hda4
<0>Rebooting in 180 seconds..
My yaboot.conf has the following:
boot=/dev/hda2
device=hd:
partition=4
root=/dev/hda4
timeout=30
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
image=/vmlinux
label=linux
read-only
image=/vmlinux.old
label=linux-old
read-only
enablecdboot
enablenetboot
enableofboot
Your 2.4.23-newpmac with XFS support boots with no trouble. And what I
find funny is that, if I take the root=/dev/hda4 out, your 2.4.23 boots
with no root= specified just fine! while my kernel still panics :-/
Your help would be _REALLY_ appreciated, since I would love to run 2.6 +
XFS.
Thanks for your great work with yaboot+woody(XFS)!
