I have this quirk too.  It's not troubling.

The sound is not muted on resume, but I do get a weird 'beep' sound when
resuming that's never happened before (even on my old ibook).  That
doesn't bother me too much either.

When I first shut the lid, the LCD goes off, but then comes back on for
a bit a few seconds later briefly before shutting off again.  That seems
strange, but again, not very troubling.

I'm sure all the little things will get ironed out in time...
