Re: Fwd: Re: Fw: Woody install docs and Nubus

Thanks Chris

Doh! After I mailed you I worked out how to complete the install using the manual keymap ;-)

Since then I've had Eudora break on me on this machine, and then repairing it by swapping files over the network with the 8100/80, I seem to have broken the Mac side of that completely. The original MacOS disk has disappeared off the desk top and I don't have a Mac OS on the second disk I use for Linux. In addition it doesn't seem to want to boot of the 8.6 CD but 9.0 seems to work ;-(

So whilst I'm reluctant to put such a bloated system on it it may be the only option and then it's back to MachKernel in the system folder etc.

As part of the process of booting into Linux, Lilo is configured in the MkLinux control panel on the Mac side. In there I set rootdev=/dev/sdb6. So I'll try your append recommendation when I've rebuilt the Mac side to get back into Linux.

Regards

Ooops - so much for planning ahead ;-)

In the web page it refers to adding keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes=1
in quik.conf or yaboot.conf neither of which I use. Do I put this in
 > the lilo.conf (MacOS) file after rootdev=?

No, there isn't any lilo or lilo.conf for powerpc, AFAIK. If neither
of those, then you must be using BootX? Just type it into the boot
arguments box.

For the two .conf files you mentioned, the syntax is

append="keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes=1"

in the image section. For quik and yaboot, you can also type out the
additional boot argument after the image name and a space. For
example,

boot: Linux keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes=1

Also I'm still stuck in the install so can't issue shutdown or edit
 anything (gracefully or otherwise)?

That's why I referred you to the web page. It explains what the broken
equivalents are for most keys, for example halt= p]j3<F5>.
To abort the process that's running (Ctrl-c):

Hold <F6> and type m
