If you need to recover from crashes, use XFS which is stable and has
never let me down on my Pismo.  I've never used reiserfs on powerpc
myself, but I've heard horrible stories of data loss, creeping
corruption and what not.

However, if you solely need a journaling FS for recovering from
battery related crashes, just get a kernel with working PMU support
and run pmud.
