StyleWriter:Cupsys|lpstyl|?

Hello all,

Being the proud owner of a StyleWriter 1500, I'm a little anxious to get the
thing talking to my powerpc. Is it still recomended to use the LinuxPPC
lpstyl driver via alien, or is there a Debian alternative.

I tried some of the instructions at the FAQ-O-Matic, which involved setting
some esoteric (to me) serial port settings, something like this:

stty 200:2:80008f10:47:3:1c:7f:15:4:1:0:0:0:0:17:12:1a:11:13:16:15:0:0 < /dev/ttyS1
setserial /dev/ttyS1 closing_wait 6000
setserial -av /dev/ttyS1 UART 8250

All this did was freeze up all my consoles forcing me to cycle power...

I would prefer not to use cupsys as it is fairly huge (at least when you
have 16M of RAM). (I also suspect that cupsys trys to use lpstyl anyway,
the Stylewriter ppd files all have the lpstyl.ppd suffix.) Being a starving
jazz musician means I don't have the money to buy either more RAM (for
oldworld the prices are crazy) nor a real postscript (tm) printer. :-(

Thankyou in advance for any forthcoming ideas.
