Sun's Java implementation is proprietary software.  You can't even
redistribute it, much less improve it and share it with your friends,
like you can the rest of Debian.

That being said though, there was some discussion on the debian-java
list about Sun's JDK becoming redistributable, and thus able to go
into non-free.  Don't hold your breath, though.

Meanwhile, GCJ and Kaffe continue to improve...

Would still be nice to have a fake package that downloads the tarball, and install the files nicely, just like the realplayer, or the microsoft web fonts packages.
