there is a technote regarding classic, you must first copy it to the
macos partition, run it from there, and tehn you can delete it.  then
it will function correctly.  

as for slowness my testing of the beta showed HFS+ to be 10 times
slower then UFS.  a simple chmod on a single file was instant on UFS
but took nearly 5 seconds on HFS+

which is a pretty large drawback which is unlikly to be solved in the
near future.  UFS is supported NOW in linux.
