I tested the binaries (they were only 1.5 MB, so downloading was
quicker than building from source, and I wanted to see if they
worked so I could get Kevin some feedback), but I did download the
patch and it applied clean.  I just double checked (by doing an
apt-get source gdb to make sure I had the current source and that
it was unpacked and patched with the Debian patches properly, then
cd'd into the directory and applied the patch with -p1 (I actually
did 'bzcat ../gdb.patch.bz2 | patch -p1')).  It worked perfectly.
I'm now building to see if the binary still works properly, but I
have no reason to believe it won't.

It's possible that the patch was mangled in transit; I downloaded
it from Kevin's Web site.
