What does `n' mean here ?  I'm unconvinced that just adding `n' for
`new' is much of an improvement.

File a bug, discuss the matter on -devel to agree a new name there if
the maintainer isn't interested, consider compatibility if necessary,
submit a patch, eventually NMU.
