We talked about this a bit at the pkg-perl BoF at DebConf; seems like git-import-orig's --upstream-vcs-tag option is helpful for this, after adding an additional remote like "upstream-vcs". If I understood it correctly, this way there's still an upstream branch (and the integration is still on master) but this upstream branch is fed both with the upstream tarball and the correspoding upstream tag. But it needs someone more experienced than me to write this down in a simple way in out git.html docs :) (What seemed to miss somehow is the option to share the URL of the upstream remote, since this is not pushed ... I think David Bremner wanted to look into this; maybe https://wiki.debian.org/UpstreamMetadata can help here.) Cheers, gregor -- .''`.
