Even if it wasn't, using the available work and only adjusting it as needed is what I'd do anytime. In case you (the sysadmin trying to backport a package) face difficulties, we encourage contacting us for help. I don't know if we would be able to keep up if faced with numerous backport requests. We'll see if somebody tries us :)
