I'm not sure we're really using the tracker right now. Mostly it just
gets spammed. *wry grin*
To get started picking up orphaned packages, I'd say pick one that no one
else has injected yet, mention on the mailing list that you're starting to
work on it, load it into Subversion, and go for it. For other general
work, look for packages that show up as out of date from watch files, look
for bugs that haven't been worked on yet (although I don't think we have
many of those), or look for lintian reports. The latter, though, is sadly
a bit out of date at the moment, I believe.
When you have packages in the repository ready for upload, send a note
here listing them. Several of us will build and upload out of Subversion
(mostly people other than me right now since I've been unfortunately
swamped and have been using my Debian time on lintian and on cleaning up
packages with a less active maintainer group than this one, but I'm glad
to fill in when other people are busy and may become more active again).
