For the download speed:
wget http://www.lemote.com/debian-testing/pool/main/g/gcc-4.3/gcc-4.3_4.3.0-3.diff.gz
For the route (it takes about one minute to print the report):
mtr -c 20 -r www.lemote.com
If you're missing the software on your debian system:
sudo apt-get install wget mtr
