Ralf, could you please elaborate on the "generic ALSA/MIPS" issue?

My interest is that there's a marginally functional IP32 sound driver 
floating around that I'm trying to find the time to fix up and get in 
tree.  Anything ALSA/MIPS is of interest right now.
