Ok, so it its a R4600, not a 4400. I have a similiar system, with
R4600 v2.0, and it worked for me a few days ago. I'll see if I can

Which means it even fails to do the early setup (this message is from
the firmware).

IIRC "boot linuxold" starts the old kernel.
