I am unfamiliar. I updated Debian files to reflect your mentoring advice. Thank you.

apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys AB406C34

apt-get source vguitar

Now, updated files are:

vguitar_2.6-2.debian.tar.xz
vguitar_2.6-2.dsc


I added build dependencies (BD):

Build-Depends: 
 debhelper (>=9),
 libncurses5-dev,
 libasound2-dev,
 libc6-dev

I built with "debuild -v -uc -us"

 debian/vguitar/usr/local/bin/vguitar --help

works.
