What such a CDD does is in short: - Bring people together that are interested in this subject; - Work together on packages for this subject and work to get relevant new packages introduced; - Create a way to easily install collections of those packages, e.g. as per the meta packages above, and/or debtags and/or a customized installer, etc. Here's more background on the subject: http://people.debian.org/~tille/cdd/ http://wiki.debian.org/CustomDebian I would really suggest that you try to create some kind of (potential) group to maintain e.g. the packages above, for example with an Alioth Project, a mailinglist and some announcement about it.
