It provides interfaces to those. I does not handle any of the
content scanning. In fact, while postfix provides rudimentary header
and body filtering methods, and does add Delivered-To, the use of
the filters is discouraged in favour of a proper content filter, and
it never changes the payload of a message. It really just transports
messages.

Yes, postfix ships with an MDA: local(8). However, it is not really
part of the MTA and it is a separate module.

How's this: most of my MTAs do not have MDA capabilities because
they don't need them?

local(8) just drops to a file or Maildir. As said, postfix allows
you to use any other MDA which can then do as much as you want.

I am not arguing this, and I don't care if you prefer another MTA.
postfix is my baby, and I can't think of another project where
I ever fully subscribed and supported *every single* decision made
by the author. I think Wietse is a genius for providing superb code
and for sticking so closely to the principles.
