Are you aware that there is also a FedoraMedical SIG[1]? I'm subscribed
to their list but it is quite silent compared to the traffic here.

Yes. but the Fedora SciTech (Science and Technology) SIG in Fedora covers bioinformatics.

My Fedora packaging was reviewed here -> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=872783

I do my packaging work in virtual machines so it's quite fast
to install a Linux distribution from a .iso file.

So if you are using a dedicated VM it is most probably a good idea to
use Wheezy which is stable enough for this purpose in any case.

Regarding to ray I have switched on "picky mode of lintian and got

$ lintian -I ray_2.1.0-1_amd64.changes
I: ray source: binary-control-field-duplicates-source field "section" in package ray
I: ray source: binary-control-field-duplicates-source field "section" in package ray-extra
N: 3 tags overridden (3 warnings)

I do not want to bother with this high level of pickyness and just
commited the simple change for this.

Thanks !

From my perspective the package is ready for uploading. I would like to
suggest another change if you might like to agree: The debian/changelog
file usually describes changes done *inside* Debian. If you upload a
new package there are by definition no internal changes and by filling
up the changelog we might force ftpmaster reading stuff they are not
really interested in. So while these changes made perfectly sense for
the development state up to now I would like to strip the entries down
to simply

   * Initial Debian release, Closes: #692238

Finally we do have the Git commits for the log. If you agree with this

I fixed that.

I'll upload that way. Otherwise it is no problem to leave the changelog
as is and I'll upload the current state. What do you think?

I think you are right.

Kind regards and thanks for your work on Ray packaging

      Andreas.
